To gain a better understanding of the health communication challenges among older adults and their professional and family caregivers and how those challenges affect the care older adults receive, the Roundtable on Health Literacy convened a 1-day public workshop which explored the effect of low health literacy on the health of older adults. Topics of focus in the workshop included changing the health needs of older adults, chronic disease and medication management, health communication challenges for older adults, health literacy needs and challenges for caregivers, and other topics related to health literacy for older people.
